Sustainable & Responsible Operations

We design higher-value, lower-impact programs for travel professionals—reducing waste, supporting local livelihoods, and protecting cultural heritage across every group journey in Vietnam & Southeast Asia.

No Forced Shopping Local-First Suppliers Plastic-Free Welcome Kits Paperless Operations Low-Impact Routing

As a leading B2B Destination Management Company, Dong DMC believes sustainability is not a policy—it is an operational standard. Our approach focuses on measurable action, responsible partnerships, and long-term community benefit across the programs we deliver for travel professionals worldwide.

Below is how we turn commitment into practice.

Certification Pathway

Dong DMC is currently undergoing certification assessment, aligning our sustainability framework with internationally recognized standards set by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). Our existing operational practices — plastic-free welcome kits, paperless operations, local-first supplier selection, no forced shopping, and community-based tourism modules — form the foundation for this certification.

We are committed to achieving Travelife Partner status and will update this page once certification is confirmed. In the meantime, the practices described below represent our current, active commitments — not aspirational targets.

What We Do in Practice

  • Plastic-free welcome kits for incentive and leisure groups wherever operationally possible.
  • Local-first supplier selection across transport, guides, restaurants, and experience providers.
  • Paperless operations through the Dong DMC Agent App and digital documentation workflows.
  • Low-impact routing to reduce unnecessary transfers, time on the road, and fuel use.
  • Waste-reduction coordination with hotels and venues for group events and functions.
  • Vehicle fleet age policy (max 3 years) to maintain fuel efficiency and emission standards.
  • Digital briefing packs for guides and suppliers — replacing printed documents across all programs.

Supplier & Partner Standards

  • Fair-wage and ethical working conditions for guides, drivers, and on-the-ground teams.
  • No forced shopping stops in any Dong DMC-designed itinerary.
  • Priority for community-based tourism projects and social enterprises where suitable.
  • Preference for hotels and venues with clear energy-saving and waste-reduction practices.
  • Continuous evaluation based on guest feedback, on-site checks, and partner performance.

Named Community Partners

Dong DMC works directly with local artisan communities, social enterprises, and minority-owned businesses — prioritizing partners who preserve heritage crafts, provide community employment, and offer guests authentic cultural exchange rather than generic shopping stops.

For full partner profiles including experience format, group capacity, booking lead times, and social impact detail, see Vietnam Local Experiences.

These partnerships replace generic shopping stops with revenue-generating cultural experiences that benefit local families directly. For agents, each partner is bookable as a modular component at net rates. See Incentive Experiences & Team Building and Culinary & Wellness Experiences.

Community & Cultural Preservation

  • Collaboration with ethnic-minority hosts in Sapa and northern Vietnam for inclusive tourism — including Red Dzao Restaurant (minority-owned, community employment).
  • Support for heritage-focused experience providers: Thanh Ha Pottery Village (500+ years), Bat Trang Ceramics (est. 14th century), Van Phuc Silk (traditional weaving).
  • Local hiring and guide development across multiple regions in Vietnam & Southeast Asia.
  • Promotion of authentic cultural experiences with respectful guest–community engagement — no performative or exploitative formats.
  • Artisan workshop modules designed so revenue flows directly to families, not through intermediary souvenir shops.

CSR Modules for Incentive & Corporate Programs

For incentive and MICE programs that require a CSR or community engagement component, Dong DMC offers pre-designed modules that create genuine impact — not token gestures.

  • Village school renovation — Paint, furnish, or build facilities at a rural school. Ceremony with students. NGO-coordinated. Half day, 20–100 pax.
  • Charity bike build — Teams assemble bicycles that are donated to local students. Combines team building with social impact. 2–3 hours, 30–200 pax.
  • Community garden planting — Plant vegetable gardens or fruit trees in rural communities. Interaction with local families. 2–3 hours, 20–80 pax.
  • Eco beach cleanup — Organized beach cleanup with environmental briefing. Works as morning team activity. 1.5 hours, 20–200 pax.

CSR modules require 30–60 day advance coordination with NGO partners. Dong DMC manages all logistics, permissions, and donation handling. Post-activity photo/video packages are available for client ESG reporting. See full activity listing: Incentive Experiences & Team Building.

Low-Impact Program Options

  • Eco-lodges and responsible resort partners where available and suitable for the group profile.
  • Cycling, walking, and nature-based modules integrated into incentive and adventure luxury programs.
  • Phu Quoc and Mekong programs designed to reduce single-use plastics and unnecessary packaging.
  • Sapa extensions that support ethnic-inclusive tourism and local-hosted experiences — including dining at Red Dzao Restaurant.
  • Halong Bay cruise partners selected based on environmental practices (waste management, fuel efficiency).

ESG Reporting for Incentive & Corporate Buyers

Increasingly, incentive RFPs require ESG documentation. Dong DMC supports planners with sustainability data at every stage:

  • Emission estimates for transportation and routing at proposal stage where requested.
  • Plastic-reduction and waste-related notes for major group events and functions.
  • Hotel and venue sustainability credentials included in RFP responses upon request.
  • CSR activity documentation with photos, impact metrics, and community partner statements.
  • Optional carbon offset recommendations with verified partners to complement group objectives.
  • Post-event sustainability summary report for client ESG compliance filing.

Our Direction

Sustainability is an ongoing commitment. As we scale, we continue improving in line with GSTC-aligned practices and the Travelife certification pathway, expanding local partnerships, and supporting planners who prioritize responsible travel experiences in their programs.

Our measurable commitments for 2026–2027:

  • Complete Travelife certification assessment and achieve Partner status.
  • Expand named community partner network to 10+ artisan villages and social enterprises across Vietnam.
  • Achieve 100% paperless operations across all B2B workflows by end of 2026.
  • Integrate emission tracking into all MICE and incentive proposals as a standard feature.
  • Publish an annual sustainability report with measurable outcomes and community impact data.

Together, we deliver travel that creates value — for travelers, for communities, and for the destinations we operate in.
